Madrichim Form

What are Madrichim?

Madrich (male conjugation) or madricha (female conjugation) or madriche (singular nonbinary) or madrichim (plural) is the Hebrew word for guide! As guides for our students, teens will serve as role models and teachers assistants for our K-6th grade Religious School program.

The Madrichim program focuses on enhancing interpersonal skills, working in a team setting, fostering personal responsibility, interacting with students in a positive way, and being a strong Jewish role model in our religious school and throughout Temple Judea. Teens that are looking to develop these skills, and who are excited about helping out in a classroom, are sure to have a meaningful experience that will stay with them for years to come. There is no cost to participate in this program.

8th-12th Graders are eligible to participate in our Madrichim Program. Teens are matched with a teacher for the year to aid in classroom activities. As a Madrich/a/e, teens will forge a meaningful relationship with their assigned teacher and the students in the classroom. This is a rewarding experience that allows teens to learn and grow as leaders in a classroom setting and in our Temple Judea community.

The Madrichim Program counts as community service hours that many students need for school. The program runs on Sunday mornings from 9am-12 noon and Tuesday afternoons from 3:45-6:45pm, and teens can participate on either day or both days. We ask that participants commit to all Sunday or Tuesday Religious School sessions.

In lieu of community service hours, returning 11th-12th Grade Madrichim can choose to be PAID for their work in the Madrichim program. Additionally, paid madrichim who work on Tuesdays will receive an additional $2/hr! For more information, please contact Assistant Director of Education, Jenny Lerner, at jlerner@templejudea.com

Teens will also have a number of leadership training sessions with Jenny Lerner, Rabbi Rosenstein, or another member of our education leadership team, which will also count toward service hours.
