Madrichim Interest Form

What is a Madrich/a?
Madrich (for males) or madricha (for females) is the Hebrew word for guide! As guides for our students, you will serve as role models for our students, and an assistant for our teachers in our K-6th grade Religious School.

Participants in our Madrichim Program are in grades 8-12 and are matched with a teacher for the year to aid them in classroom activities. As a Madrich/a, you will forge a meaningful relationship with your assigned teacher, and the students in the classroom. This is a rewarding experience that allows you to learn and grow as leaders in a classroom setting and in our Temple Judea community.

The Madrichim Program counts as community service hours that many students need for school. The program runs on Sunday mornings and Tuesday afternoons, and you can participate on either day or both days. We require that participants commit to all Sunday or Tuesday Religious School sessions. Each student can miss up to three sessions per year and still be eligible to receive service hours. You will also have a number of leadership training sessions with Rachel Hershman, which will also count for service hours.

The Madrichim program focuses on enhancing interpersonal skills, working in a team setting, fostering personal responsibility, interacting with students in a positive way, and being a strong Jewish role model in our religious school and throughout Temple Judea. Teens that are looking to develop these skills, and are excited about helping out in a classroom are sure to have a meaningful experience that will stay with them for years to come. There is no cost to participate in this program.
