Friday, April 26, 2024 18 Nisan 5784

7:15 PM - 8:30 PM

Experience the meaning of Passover like never before with Temple Judea's immersive journey into history in this one-of-a-kind multimedia Passover experience created just for Temple Judea!

On Friday, April 26th at 7:15pm immediately following our weekly Erev Shabbat service, be part of a one-of-a-kind multimedia adventure, delving into the heart of the Passover narrative through a captivating blend of theatre, food, art, and music from our very own Grammy-winning Erev Shabbat drummer MB Gordy and his band Opium Moon!

As Jews, we gather together each year to recount the ancient tale of our people, striving to embody the commandment to see ourselves as if we ourselves were actually leaving Egypt. This year, you are invited to an unforgettable evening of storytelling and connection that makes our story come alive. While this isn't a traditional Seder, it is a celebration of the Passover story that showcases Temple Judea's innovative spirit and creative energy. Bring your teens, your adult family members, and your friends! Immerse yourself in the warmth of the Temple Judea community.

A theatrical performance hand-crafted by our TJ clergy will bring a piece of the ancient story to vivid life, resonating deeply with our modern experiences. Inspired by the unfolding words and performances, you’ll watch a visual artist create a brand new work before your eyes. Indulge in a delectable Kosher-for-Passover-style dinner presented by Scott Roeb Catering. And of course, MB Gordy, the percussionist in our weekly Erev Shabbat band, will join his Grammy Award-winning group, Opium Moon, to inspire us with their mesmerizing world music.

Opium Moon creates sensuous, enchanting soundscapes that evoke ancient worlds while remaining thoroughly contemporary. Elegant yet deeply emotional, their distinctive sound draws upon the diverse backgrounds of its members: Iranian santoor master Hamid Saeidi, innovative Israeli bassist Itai Disraeli, sought-after American percussionist M.B. Gordy, and virtuosic Canadian-American violinist Lili Haydn. With original compositions that meld sacred/classical traditions of East and West with trance-inducing grooves, the result is at times both stately and rapturous, a sultry and passionate instrumental music that seems to emanate from a deep wellspring. NPR's Bob Boilen called it "both a deep, thoughtful breath and an upbeat celebration."

Get your tickets today and prepare to be transported through this inspirational experience of our Jewish heritage.
