Selichot

Saturday, September 9, 2023 23 Elul 5783

8:00 PM - 10:00 PMGoor Sanctuary & Grossblatt Chapel

Rejoice. Reflect. Renew.
Selichot is the observance that formally begin the period of the High Holy Days.  This year, we return to the Goor Sanctuary, where our clergy will lead an evening of inspirational study and worship.  The study program will focus on a book by Dr. Erica Brown, "In the Narrow Places," which contains meditations and writings from our tradition that are relevant to the themes of Selichot and the High Holy Days.  This program will be followed by a nosh (of course!) and our inspirational service of Selichot.

As part of this service, we will change the Torah mantles to the traditional white for the High Holy Days.

No reservations are required for this service.

Welcome the new year together!

Temple Judea is proud to offer many opportunities for worship and reflection during the High Holy Days and the festivals of Tishrei - both online, and in person - and as a member of our community, we hope you’ll join us!

We invite you to visit Temple Judea's official High Holy Day website for more information about reserving tickets, a schedule of services and events, listing and links for our virtual services, information about our High Holiday Appeal, and much more.

Members may reserve tickets for Sanctuary Services and/or tickets for Youth & Family Programs. All services held in the Goor Sanctuary are limited to adults and children in 4th grade and older. Members may also participate in our Book of Remembrance through either ticket reservation form or register for childcare during select sanctuary services, so that adults may enjoy a prayerful and contemplative moment while their children are cared for in a trusted environment. After member ticket reservations are fulfilled, if space is available, non-members may purchase tickets at $50 per person, per service by calling (818) 758-3800.

Please Note: If you have not yet renewed your commitment for 2023-24, please don’t forget to do so, as we cannot confirm High Holy Day ticketing without your completed membership. Renewing is easy! Just log in at portal.templejudea.com to renew your membership online, or email memberservices@templejudea.com for help. During the High Holy Days, parking for for will be available in the north lot on Lindley Ave. until full, and at St. Paul's United Methodist Church (on the corner of Lindley Ave. and Burbank Blvd.) for overflow and where street parking is available.
