AT HOME

Each month, TJVillage Movie Club at Home offers film fans an opportunity to share their affection for cinema arts with friends. Members watch one or two announced movies from the comfort of home at their own convenience on streaming. Then they meet on Zoom to comment and critique. Usually, movies are chosen in pairs that complement or contrast with each other to enrich discussion.

This month’s Movie Club at Home selections:

1) The Imitation Game

A 2014  Biographical thriller starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley tells the story of Alan Turing, who created the machine to break the code used by the Nazis that told of their upcoming plans. Turing was a complicated man which provides the movie with several intriguing side stories.

2) Bombshell: The Hedy Lamar Story

This illuminating documentary profiles inventor and 1940s movie star Hedy Lamarr, who developed an advanced communication system for the U.S. Navy during WWII; decades later, her innovations are still being used in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
